Game: Hertha Berlin v Hamburg - kick off 2.30 pm

Selection: Hertha Berlin to win
Reasoning: Berlin way overpriced here I feel.
Martin Jol's Hamburg started the season well but have just gone off the boil a little lately. While their home form has remained good (5 wins, 1 draw from 6) they have had some big defeats away from home that you wouldn't expect from true title challengers. In their last 4 away games they have lost 0-3 to Hannover, Hoffenheim and Wolfsburg with just a 2-1 win over bottom of the table Cottbus sandwiched inbetween. Those defeats shouldn't have surprised anyone as they have been poor away from home all year (though their home form is superb). Their 2008 Bundesliga away record is just 3 wins from 14 with all 3 of those wins coming against sides either bottom or 2nd bottom of the league.
After making a poor start to the season Hertha Berlin are starting to come into a bit of form now and are now just 2 points behind Hamburg. They have won their last 3 home games and 4 of their last 6 overall including beating 1st place Leverkusen and 2nd place Hoffenheim.
Laying Hamburg would be the safe bet but with Hertha's good recent form I am going to take a more risky approach and go for the straight home win which considering the above stats is a massive price at the current odds.

Game: Real Valladolid v Real Madrid - kick off 7.00 pm - Live on Sky Sports
Competition: La Liga
Selection: Lay Real Madrid
Reasoning: I've gone easy this season on laying Madrid and Barca as they have both shown signs of improvement in their away form. However going to take Madrid on here as this looks one of their more tricky away games.
Valladolid are down in the bottom 5 at the moment but that is solely down to their away form (5 defeats out of 5), their home form is very solid with 10 points from a possible 15 (3 wins, 1 draw, 1 defeat). That carries on their very decent home record in 2008 reading W-W-L-D-L-D-W-D-W-D-W-W-L-D-W. They are very hard to beat on their own patch and indeed only lost once to to the big 5 at home last season (drew 1-1 with Madrid).
Real have improved their away win ratio so far this term with 3 wins out of 5 but it has to be noted that 2 of those 3 wins came via injury time goals. Still not convinced that they are reliable away from home and with Vallodalid solid enough at home to take advantage they are well worth laying at the current odds.

Selection: Lille to win
Reasoning: St.Etienne have a shocking record on the road this season and with Lille strong at home this looks a very solid bet.
Lille are a side I think I must have flagged up before as one to watch at home. Their 2008 home record reads W-D-W-W-L-W-W-W-L-W-W-W-D-W. That is a very impressive 10 wins from 14 with the 2 defeats excusable as one was to champions Lyon and the other to Le mans who have the 3rd best away record in the league.
St.Etienne have been very disappointing so far this season. They ended last season with a great run and almost sneaked a Champions league place however for whatever reason they have not carried that on. Away form has been their biggest downfall with 0 wins, 1 draw and 5 defeats from their 6 games. Just 2 goals scored in those 6 shows where their problems are at the moment and with Lille having conceded just 1 goal in their last 3 games St.Etienne look like they are going to find it hard to score.

Game: Hull City v Manchester City - kick off 4.00 pm - Live on Sky Sports 1
Competition: Premier League
Selection: Lay Manchester City
Reasoning: These are my favourite kind of games! Away sides priced around the 2.5 mark very rarely represent good value. As just a quick basic example just blindly laying any away side priced between 2.25 and 2.75 in the Premier League this season would have returned a 61pt profit from 200pts staked (just 5 away wins out of 20). Manchester City have been responsible for 4 of those 20 bets and they have not won any of the 4.
They have just 1 away win from 6 this season and even last season won just 4 of 19. Cannot see how they can be a 2.5 shot for this one against 6th place Hull City. This is not a side battling relegation they are facing this is a side that is a clear 7 points better than them in the league table so far this season.
Got to be a lay.

Game: Nice v Nantes - kick off 4.00 pm
Competition: Ligue 1
Selection: Nice to win
Reasoning: Nice have a decent home record. They haven't lost any of their 6 home games this term, winning 3 of them. Of the 3 they have drawn 2 were very tough with 3rd place in the table Bordeaux and the side with the 3rd best away record in the league Le Mans. They have won their last two games against PSG and L'Orient without conceding and look a very solid home outfit.
Nantes just do not have the firepower to be able to do much away from home. They have scored just 2 goals in their 7 away matches so far this season, leaving them with 6 out of 7 defeats. They have lost their last two away games 2-0 and 3-0 to sides not as good as Nice and look very much up against it.
Surprised Nice are as big a price as they are and represent decent value I feel.

Game: Almeria v Real Mallorca - kick off 4.00 pm

Selection: Almeria to win
Reasoning: Another solid season looks on the cards for Almeria. They finished top half last season and I would be surprised if they arn't up there again by the end of this term. They have claimed just 1 point from their last 4 games but that is excusable as they have played the 4 best sides in Spain in Madrid, Barca, Villareal and Sevilla. Before that they had claimed a very respectable 11 points from a possible 18. Their home record is a similar story. They have won just 2 of their 5 but the 3 they didn't win were draws against Real madrid and Valencia and a 0-1 defeat to Sevilla. When they have faced a "normal" side at home this term they have won beating Malaga and Huelva.
Mallorca don't have the best of away records having lost 3 of their 5 games so far and have not yet played any of the big-4.
Odds against for the home win is value in my opinion.
