2009/10 Season
I took a more selective approach for the 09/10 season as I eliminated any areas that I perceived to be weak links. That meant no odds-on bets, no lays, no cup games, no over/under bets and a more cautious approach at the start and the end of the season. I think the selective tactics worked well and meant that we were left with just bets that were "premium" bets.
When just looking at match bets only (no antepost) we improved the ROI from 9.6% in the 08/09 season to 20.9% this season so job done there I think. The increased selectiveness also dramatically reduced losers with just 24 of the 121 bets actually losing (59 won, 38 drew). For those who prefer the less stressful life of a high strike rate, covering the draw may be worthwhile. Details here of the stats comparing win only and cover on the draw.
The majority of the profit came in the first 3 or 4 months of the season which is unusual for me as it isn't usually until 3 months into the season when I really get going. There is always a period in the season when you make the majority of your profit for the season though and it just happened to be at the start this year.
This season also marked the introduction of the Shortlist bets. These are bets that weren't quite strong enough to make the cut as a recommended bet but still had a bit of value in them. Results can be found here for the shortlist bets and early signs are that this could be a nice addition to the service.
Overall the 09/10 season was a very decent one and the same again next season would do nicely. Full details on every recommended bet below.
